Stop The Bugs Turret Tier List
Last verified: July 2026
Choosing the right turrets in Stop The Bugs separates players who stall at wave 15 from those pushing leaderboard records past wave 30. Super Defence designed six distinct turret archetypes, each excelling at different phases of a Roblox tower defense run. This tier list ranks every turret from S-tier staples to C-tier starter options, based on damage output, crowd control, upgrade scaling, and synergy with townhall progression.
How We Rank Turrets
Our rankings reflect real in-game performance across solo and six-player sessions, not theoretical DPS spreadsheets alone. We weigh each turret on wave-clear speed from waves 1–10, survivability against tanky mini-boss bugs in waves 15–25, and late-game scaling when cash income plateaus. Turrets that require excessive townhall investment before becoming useful receive lower tiers unless their payoff justifies the delay.
Rankings assume you follow our turret placement guide for chokepoint coverage and upgrade existing turrets before buying duplicates, as explained in the turret upgrade priority guide.
Full Tier List
- Starter Turret (C-tier) — Early wave clear — Cheap first purchase. Upgrade once before buying a second turret.
- Rapid Turret (B-tier) — Swarm control — Strong against low-HP bug clusters in waves 5–15.
- Sniper Turret (A-tier) — Single-target DPS — Place near townhall to focus tanky bugs and mini-bosses.
- Flame Turret (A-tier) — Area damage — Excellent at chokepoints where bugs stack together.
- Shock Turret (S-tier) — Chain / slow — Slows fast bugs and adds burst damage in mid-to-late waves.
- Laser Turret (S-tier) — Late-game DPS — Highest sustained damage. Requires townhall upgrades to unlock.
S-Tier: Shock Turret and Laser Turret
Shock Turret earns S-tier because chain lightning and slow effects solve two late-game problems simultaneously: fast bugs that outrun single-target DPS and clustered swarms that overwhelm under-leveled defenses. Place Shock Turrets at inner chokepoints near your townhall so slowed enemies spend more time inside overlapping fire zones. Upgrade Shock Turrets to maximum before wave 20 if your economy allows — the slow percentage often matters more than raw damage when leaks threaten your base.
Laser Turret delivers the highest sustained DPS in Stop The Bugs but unlocks only after significant townhall upgrades (typically level 7+). Once available, Laser Turrets anchor your endgame layout. Pair them with Flame Turrets at outer paths for stacked area damage, then let Lasers focus fire on high-HP targets that survive the initial burst.
A-Tier: Sniper Turret and Flame Turret
Sniper Turret handles single-target elimination better than any mid-game option. Position Snipers with clear sightlines toward your townhall so they prioritize tanky bugs and mini-bosses that slip through outer defenses. One fully upgraded Sniper often outperforms two level-one copies — a core principle covered in our upgrade guide.
Flame Turret dominates at chokepoints where bug paths converge. Bugs stacking in a narrow corridor take repeated tick damage, making Flame Turrets cost-efficient for waves 10–20. Avoid placing Flame Turrets on wide open segments where enemies pass through too quickly to accumulate burn stacks.
B-Tier and C-Tier Options
Rapid Turret serves as your swarm-control bridge between early and mid game. It clears low-HP bug clusters efficiently during waves 5–15 but falls off when enemy HP scales. Transition away from Rapid Turrets once Sniper and Flame options unlock rather than over-investing in upgrades.
Starter Turret is mandatory for wave 1 but should be upgraded once, then replaced strategically. Never spam Starter Turrets late game — every slot occupied by a C-tier turret is a slot not holding Shock or Laser coverage.
Recommended Build Order by Wave
Waves 1–5: Buy and upgrade one Starter Turret, add a second Starter or save for Rapid Turret. Waves 6–12: Introduce Rapid Turret for swarm control, begin Sniper Turret near townhall. Waves 13–20: Add Flame Turret at best chokepoint, upgrade Sniper to max. Waves 21+: Unlock and prioritize Shock Turret, then Laser Turret as townhall permits. Consult our turret placement tutorial for layout diagrams and the late wave survival guide for boss-specific adjustments.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best turret in Stop The Bugs? +
Laser Turret has the highest sustained DPS for late game, but Shock Turret is more versatile earlier due to chain damage and slow effects. Most optimal builds use both.
Should I buy more turrets or upgrade existing ones? +
Upgrade existing turrets first until they reach mid-tier levels. One maxed turret outperforms multiple level-one copies in most Stop The Bugs layouts.
When does Laser Turret unlock? +
Laser Turret typically unlocks around townhall level 7. Check our townhall levels page for exact unlock progression.
Are Starter Turrets worth keeping? +
Replace Starter Turrets gradually as you unlock higher-tier options. Keep one only if you lack placement slots for better turrets.
Do turret tiers change with updates? +
Super Defence may rebalance turrets in patches. We update this tier list after each major game update listed on our Trello verification page.
